About the Author
Phil Kim received all the degrees (BS, MS, and PhD) in Aerospace Engineering from Seoul National University. After his education, he worked at Korea Aerospace Research Institute as a Senior Researcher. There, his main task was to develop autonomous flight algorithm and onboard software for unmanned aerial vehicle. An on-screen keyboard program named 'Clickey' developed by him during his period in PhD program served as a bridge to bring the author currently being a Senior Research Officer at National Rehabilitation Research Institute of Korea.

Awesome Book

I've spent the past couple months trying to figure out Quaternions and Euler angles. This book is written in very simple language and in a way that is very clear. It's a short read, much smaller than I expected it to be. I read through the whole thing in about 90 minutes, but it allowed me to go back to my simulation and get everything working right. Includes some sample Matlab code, and the appendices go through some more detailed derivations. Could use a little more detail, but it gave me everything I needed. This book in combination with Quaternions and Rotation Sequences tell you pretty much everything you need to know.

Euler Angles and Quaternions Explained in a Simple Intuitive Manner!

This is a great introduction book for learning about Direction Cosines, Euler Angles, and Quaternions and the relationships between them. It is written quite intuitively and It took me less than 10 hours of reading to cover the entire book (including running the nice yet useful MATLAB scripts). I would highly recommend this book as a starting point for engineers wanting to understand the basics of rigid body dynamics without wanting to get confused with lengthy and difficult derivations in most text books. Once you have an appreciation for the material you can move onto the more detailed literature.

Great book for practicing scientists and engineers, beginner or not,

This book is a surprisingly fun read, for a technical book. Kim's slow and steady approach would likely be very good for younger students. I am not younger, but a practicing scientist well into my career. By going at a relaxed pace, I can assimilate the material in the middle of the thousand other things I need to think about.
