Me and my fiancé have been preparing for our trip to China this Fall and it’s been rather reckless. It’s the first time we are leaving the States and this both put a lot of anxiety on the table. We’ve always been fascinated by the Far East culture and planning this trip has been extremely exciting. However, there’s so many things that we were a little bit worried about.

I saw this book the other day and said why not. I can safely say that I do not regret my purchase. This guide is filled with a lot of useful information, especially the section on common scams you might bump into. There’s a whole list of a bunch of different scams that I feel like I would have personally fell for. Now, with this knowledge in my head I feel much more confident that my trip to China will go a smooth as a kite!

Great for someone interested in traveling to China!

Tim's book on traveling in China safely is an excellent companion to any new traveler. Inside I learned the types of Chinese scams to watch for and how to handle them. He also explains the cultural differences to be aware of like no tipping , picture taking, or showing up late. Those are all very rude to the Chinese. My favorite part was his basic language breakdown of Mandarin. I've heard before that Mandarin is one of the hardest languages to learn since it's a tonal language. Luckily Mr. Teller, concisely explains the different tones in Mandarin. Then he follows this up with a list of popular words and phrases and there corresponding pronunciation. Overall I really liked Tim's book and can't wait to take my own trip to China!

This a solid book to pickup if you are planning a trip to China, and want to stay safe, be comfortable and have a good time as well. I picked up this book for myself because I am planning on visiting China in the near future and wanted to find out what to expect. The author has laid out a complete game plan for your trip as in what scams to look out for, how to find the right tour guides, what items to bring with you, and many many more tips so you can have a fun and memorable trip! Kudos to the author for writing a very exciting and exceptional travel guide!

Turns HEX into a generic pulp system

This book requires the Hollow Earth Expedition RPG (EGS1000) (HEX) Core Rulebook.

Hollow Earth Expedition is in my opinion the best RPG treatment yet of pulp style. It is a fast, streamlined system called Ubiquity (also used in the post-apocalyptic fantasy Desolation (Ubiquity System, GMD1000)) that encourages as much action as can possibly be packed into a single gaming session. But not everyone wants to run a game about drilling into the Earth's Core. This book expands on the first, and allows GMs and players who may not be as interested in playing in the default setting to use HEX's mechanics to play any sort of pulp game, from Indiana Jones to gangster tales.

Sections include: Psychic Powers, Vehicles, Mad Science Gizmos, a Gazeteer of the pulp world of 193-, and an expanded weapons selection, among others.

All the content is of a consistent high standard, and as with all Exile Game Studio products, the art is phenomenal.

I was slightly disappointed by the mad science rules, but then, I've yet to see any that really wow me. These are of the standard "take an existing object, add point-based features, add a few drawbacks" manner. It works fine, I'd just someday like to see something brilliantly elegant. The rest of the rules seem balanced and well thought out.

The gazeteer section is likewise informative and has plenty of possible adventure hooks. This book, once again, is meant as more of a generic pulp system, so I missed some of the sense of wonder from the strongly integrated setting of the core book. Still, it is useful and serves its purpose well.

All in all, if you loved the core book, I'd highly suggest picking this one up, and if you're looking for a good generic pulp system, this book plus the core can't be beat.

I found this book very well done. It has many diagrams that are very ease to follow. Excellent for the first time user for the Chromebook computer or the Chrome Browser. Love it!!

The psychological wounds caused by the bullying she received also start to resurface when Donna starts reenacting the ways she was treated at home by hitting and bullying Paula, so much so that Cathy can't let Donna out of her sight.

As the pressure begins to mount on Cathy to help this child, things start to get worse and Donna begins behaving in erratic ways, trashing her bedroom and being regularly abusive towards Cathy's children. Cathy begins to wonder if she can find a way to help this child or if Donna's scars run too deep.

Here Stiltonoot must overcome many perils to rescue the famous Stone of Fire stolen from the mouseum by the evil Tiger Khan. Literary references include Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes; however, the plot is more in the nature of Indiana Jones. A Nice Change of Scene

The Geronimo Stilton series is good fun, but after more than 50 volumes it seems to have run out of steam a bit. This book is the first in a spin-off series, and it breathes new life into the continuing adventures of Geronimo.

In this series we are in the Stone Age following Geronimo's ancient ancestors. The set up is the same. The hero/narrator is Geronimo Stiltonoot. Most of the old characters are back in slightly changed forms. Geronimo now publishes his newspaper one chiseled stone tablet at a time. Mouse Island is now Old Mouse City.

But, the humor and silliness is the same. For novelty, in this series there are Flintstone-like bits, (Geronimo drives an "autosaurus"; the enemies are sabre-tooth tigers, and so on.) We still have colorful and varied print fonts, antic illustrations, detailed maps of the action, and lots of puns and jokes. As usual, some of the jokes are likely to be over the heads of readers, but that's O.K. because that just means there are different jokes and different rewards for different levels of readers.

So, if you have drifted away from Stilton, this might be a draw to come back. If you're new to Stilton, this is a fine place to begin. Either way, the book is certainly worth your consideration.

My daughter loves it

I started getting Stilton books for my eight-year-old daughter and she loves all the books we have got so far. The stories are well written and the language used in this books is wonderful, nothing like other popular kids books out there that are not that appropriate for young students.

A Nice Change of Scene

The Geronimo Stilton series is good fun, but after more than 50 volumes it seems to have run out of steam a bit. This book is the first in a spin-off series, and it breathes new life into the continuing adventures of Geronimo.

In this series we are in the Stone Age following Geronimo's ancient ancestors. The set up is the same. The hero/narrator is Geronimo Stiltonoot. Most of the old characters are back in slightly changed forms. Geronimo now publishes his newspaper one chiseled stone tablet at a time. Mouse Island is now Old Mouse City.

But, the humor and silliness are the same. For novelty, in this series there are Flintstone-like bits, (Geronimo drives an "autosaurus"; the enemies are sabre-tooth tigers, and so on.) We still have colorful and varied print fonts, antic illustrations, detailed maps of the action, and lots of puns and jokes. As usual, some of the jokes are likely to be over the heads of readers, but that's O.K. because that just means there are different jokes and different rewards for different levels of readers.

So, if you have drifted away from Stilton, this might be a draw to come back. If you're new to Stilton, this is a fine place to begin. Either way, the book is certainly worth your consideration.
