To be honest, when I first saw the title for this book I was more than a little skeptical. But when I started to see the logic behind the system Adrian Calabrese presents in How to Get Everything You Ever Wanted, I knew that no other title would do. This book really does show you how to get everything you want.
This is not a book with simplistic answers. You have to work to achieve your goals. But this book shows you how to effectively work with the system designed into the universe, the system designed to let you have what you need. All you need to do is learn the basics and follow the system.
And what are the basics? They are the development of your own psychic abilities. Dr. Calabrese shows you how to do this with exercises and meditations. You'll learn a wide variety of psychic abilities including psychometry, dream work, breath work, and visualization as well as how to communicate with angels and spirit guides. You'll even learn how to hypnotize yourself.
Once you have the basics down you can follow the six steps that can bring you what you desire. I had been using most of them already, but identifying them has improved my magical work. As owner of countless self-help books and tapes, I rank this book among the best. This book is actually a workshop that shows you how you can align the stars in your favor. Adrian brings together the best techniques of: Affirmations, meditation, visualization, and intuition. Toghether, it makes for a powerful book that you will want to keep nearby. Additionally, Adrian writes in such a way that she is having a conversation with the reader.

Compared to other books, you will want to keep reading this book because it opens your heart and soul to real possibilities.

I know this book works because I have benefited from the techniques. I use this now to rediscover the potential and excitement in my life.

If you're new to self-help this is a great place to begin. If you're a veteran reader like myself, you will make this a favorite. Read it and use it!

The title says it all!!

This book really makes me feel motivated to start working at getting what I deserve out of life! Dr. Calabrese presents spiritual principles in easy to understand terms and presents a practical, step-by-step approach to "manifesting" your heart's desires.
The book reads quickly and is organized like a workbook. You can begin working on meditation exercises almost immediately to begin honing your skills in visualizing(a technique employed as part of Calabrese's "6 Step Program"). Also presented are techniques to develop your innate intuitive (psychic) abilites and write your own affirmations to use in meditation.
If your mind is open to psychic phenomena and the spiritual plane of existence, then you can benefit from this book regardless of your religious background. The spiritual principles are universal and presented in a way that really makes sense. Dr. Calabrese writes very conversationally and avoids "lofty, new-age jargon."

Best book on manifesting

I've read so many books on this subject and this by far has been the best. I've recently recommended this book to at least eight people whom have all read it and loved it. Once you start reading it you wont be able to put it down. All the people that I've told about it have thanked me for telling them about this book. I consider myself an experienced manifestor and I've learned so many new things and learned somethings that I've been doing that were incorrect. I loved the affirmations in the back of the book to use while you meditate. Read this book you'll be glad you did and if you practice what she teaches you can have everthing you've ever wanted.

A book about a boy, but is it a boy's book?

We just added "Westward to Home" and several other "My America" books to our elementary school library, so it remains to be seen how popular this particular title will be.
Author Patricia Hermes does a fine job of telling the story of a nine-year old boy, through brief journal entries, about life on the Oregon Trail in 1848. While we get a kid's eye view of the hardships, the people, and some of the typical events associated with traveling west by covered wagon, I'm not convinced that this is a genuinely BOY'S book.
I have traveled along the Oregon Trail, from Independence, MO, to Walla Walla, WA, and I was once a boy. That makes me no expert, but I think a nine-year old kid on the Oregon Trail would be less interested in the interpersonal difficulties of the adults in the wagon train, and more fascinated with guns, never-before-seen animals such as pronghorns, prairie dogs, snakes, lizards, and buffalo, and some of the amazing landforms that come into view after a monotonous trek across the flat prairies.
There was a brief mention of Chimney Rock, which would be awe inspiring for any kid to see and muse about. And what about Register Rock where a kid would surely stop to scratch in his own name and read the signatures of those who had gone on before? One would think a boy would be more amazed at his first views of the Rockies. And even when Joshua is curious about the Indians he sees in the forts along the way, I'd expect him to be more fascinated with the way they looked and talked, what they wore, how they smelled and how they did things like eat and smoke. This could also be said for the soldiers and trappers he must've seen at these forts.
I also can't imagine a nine-year old boy spending so much time in his journal worrying about a girl who was "sweet" on him. Instead, I would like to have seen his male friendships developed a bit more fully.
Having said all this, I still think this book is a welcome addition to middle grade titles about the Oregon Trail. The overall picture of the life, people and hardships, including many tragic deaths, is realistic. I anticipate that more girls will be reading this than boys, but it fills a need at this level.

Smart, laugh out loud antidote to HGTV overload

Finally! An hilarious, clever, smart person's manual for the insane adventure called homeownership. As a recovering HGTV addict, and a new home owner, reading this book helped me feel like I am not alone in my attempt to creatively deal with the REAL reality that is setting up house. HGTV 1-2-3 house hunting and one hour reno before and afters numb us with their lack of humor and pathos. Cox writes as though her life depends on it-there's no turning back after signing on that dotted line-her way with words, timing and subject matter force you to feel the funny and the oh too real in everything from major emergencies to minor but just as anxiety provoking tasks as dealing with endless amounts of daily chores. Wry yet determinedly cheerful, Cox leads us into her wacky world and helps us out of our post-purchase shock or mid-reno haze. The cherry on top is artist Rob Strati's clean and perfectly fitting cover graphic. Just signed up for Cox's HomeTome Blog. Keep those posts coming my way! Can't get enough.

This book is very charming and witty and will make you think back on and laugh at all of the crazy homeowner experiences you've had. Helpful to get a laugh out of the things that usually cause us so much stress! This would be a funny housewarming gift or a gift to a friend of yours who is currently undergoing house trama. Note: the book is short which means you go through it quickly (thus 4 stars instead of 5, although some might think that's actually more of a positive than a negative).

With one million dead, and just as many forced to emigrate, the Irish Famine (1845–52) is among the worst health calamities in history. Because historical records of the Victorian period in Ireland were generally written by the middle and upper classes, relatively little has been known about those who suffered the most, the poor and destitute. But in 2006, archaeologists excavated an until then completely unknown intramural mass burial containing the remains of nearly 1,000 Kilkenny Union Workhouse inmates. In the first bioarchaeological study of Great Famine victims, Jonny Geber uses skeletal analysis to tell the story of how and why the Famine decimated the lowest levels of nineteenth century Irish society.

Seeking help at the workhouse was an act of desperation by people who were severely malnourished and physically exhausted. Overcrowded, it turned into a hotspot of infectious disease—as did many other union workhouses in Ireland during the Famine. Geber reveals how medical officers struggled to keep people alive, as evidenced by cases of amputations but also craniotomies. Still, mortality rates increased and the city cemeteries filled up, until there was eventually no choice but to resort to intramural burials. Deceased inmates were buried in shrouds and coffins—an attempt by the Board of Guardians of the workhouse to maintain a degree of dignity towards these victims. By examining the physical conditions of the inmates that might have contributed to their institutionalization, as well as to the resulting health consequences, Geber sheds new and unprecedented light on Ireland’s Great Hunger.

Clark, who in a memorable autobiographical essay describes a long life devoted to the pursuit of racial justice, and Patricia J. Williams, who relates the contemporary struggles of African American women to the historical context of slavery and its aftermath.

About the Author

Herbert Hill is professor of Afro-American studies and industrial relations at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.  Formerly national labor director of the NAACP, he is the author of Black Labor and the American Legal System, also published by the University of Wisconsin Press, as well as other books.  He has presented testimony before Congressional committees and frequently appears as expert witness in federal court litigation involving employment discrimination.

James E. Jones Jr. is the Nathan P. Feinsinger Professor of Labor Law and former director of the Industrial Relations Research Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  He was associate solicitor of labor, Division of Labor Relations and Civil Rights, U.S. Department of Labor.  He is the coauthor of Discrimination in Employment and has contributed many articles on labor law, industrial relations, and civil rights to law journals and other publications.
